Introducing this week's spotlight, Susie Ma, Founder and CEO of Tropic Skincare.
Tropic Skincare is reshaping the industry with multi-award-winning products that are both ethical and effective. The entire range is vegan, free from artificial preservatives and toxins, and crafted using a blend of wild tropical botanicals combined with cutting-edge science to unlock your healthiest glow yet.
Susie Ma began her entrepreneurial journey at 15 after moving to London. Driven to help her mum pay the bills and find a way out of debt, she started her first venture by recreating her Grandma’s homemade body scrub recipe and selling it at a market stall in Greenwich.
She sold out on the first day, making £1,000!
For the next six years, Susie studied full-time, formulating recipes in the evenings and weekends, while continuing to sell her products across the city.
At 21, Susie Ma became the youngest-ever candidate on The Apprentice. Although she didn’t secure investment during the show, Lord Sugar later admitted his mistake and invested in her business. However, this year, Susie bought him out and now has full ownership of the company.
Starting out as a one-person handmade body scrub company, the brand has now scaled to a team of over 300+ staff, generating £62.3 million in sales and additionally donating 10% of its profits to charity.
